Nijmegen, May 7, 2020: Nexperia, the high-throughput production specialist in the production of semiconductor basic components, announces the first P-channel MOSFET series in the highly robust, space-efficient LFPAK56 (Power-SO8) package . The new device is AEC-Q101 qualified and suitable for automotive applications, making it an ideal replacement for DPAK MOSFETs, reducing package footprint by more than 50% while maintaining performance. The new family is available in an operating voltage range of 30 V to 60 V with an on-resistance RDS(on) as low as 10 mΩ (30 V).
The LFPAK package uses a copper clip structure, pioneered by Nexperia and has been used in demanding applications such as automotive for nearly 20 years. Facts have proved that the reliability of the package is much higher than the AEC standard requirements, exceeding the key reliability test indicators by 2 times, and the unique package structure also improves the board-level reliability. Previously only N-channel devices were available in LFPAK packages. Now, due to industrial demand, Nexperia has expanded the LFPAK56 product family to include P-channel devices as well.
Malte Struck, Product Manager at Nexperia, commented: “The new P-channel MOSFETs target reverse polarity protection; as high-side switches for various automotive applications such as seat adjustment, sunroof and window control. They are also suitable for industrial applications such as 5G base stations. application scenarios.”
