This modular prototyping platform is designed for the development of LiDAR depth sensing application hardware and software, helping to reduce system development time and simplify the implementation process of LiDAR system prototyping for automotive, environmental, aerospace/defense, security and Industry 4.0 and other applications.

The Analog Devices LiDAR prototyping platform, available from Mouser Electronics, is a modular hardware and open source software platform for 1D non-scanning LIDAR development. The platform’s hardware components include laser boards and analog front-end (AFE) boards that plug into high-speed data acquisition (DAQ) boards with FMC-compatible connector interfaces, allowing designers to connect to the FPGA boards they need. There are four independent lasers inside the laser board, which can precisely emit laser light with a wavelength of 905 nm. Designers can mount custom optics on the laser board according to their design requirements using industry-standard mounting adapters. The signal transmission range of the hardware platform is up to 60 meters, the horizontal resolution is 16 pixels, and the data sampling rate of four independent channels is 1 GSPS.
The open source software of this prototyping platform is integrated with industry-standard tools and operating systems, including Linux industrial I/O applications, MATLAB, Simulink, custom C/C+, Python and C# applications. The licensable JESD204B interface framework helps reduce development complexity and shorten the time for deterministic data transfer to the host system.
